Birthing Stories
"HypnoBirthing provided me with an optimistic outlook on pregnancy and birth. I remember before I was pregnant hearing horror stories from friends which made me nervous for when I would have my own child. It was just the opposite. I had a joyful experience. Melissa’s month long birthing classes helped me overcome my fears and stay relaxed during pregnancy. When it came time for me to give birth I was able to stay calm, trust my body, and use the birthing techniques I was taught. When I arrived in the hospital the nurses told me that I didn’t look like I was in labor. I enjoyed letting my body naturally go through the birthing process and I feel closer to my baby having done so. It took a little over an hour for me to have my baby girl. I am very satisfied with my experience and hope that everyone can feel the same way during and after birth."

"I began hypnobirthing training when I was already in my third trimester. Since I was already so far along in my pregnancy, I was skeptical that I would be able to master the techniques in time for the birth of my second child. Melissa reassured me that I wasn't too late and gave me a crash course in hypnobirthing so that I could start working on the breathing techniques right away. I worked on the relaxation exercises every night before bed for the next two months. Those two short months of practicing really paid off! When I went into labor with my second child, my body was relaxed. Instead of fighting my body, I was able to use every contraction to progress my baby through each stage of labor. My baby was born five short hours after experiencing my first contraction. I was amazed that my second delivery was so easy, considering that I was in labor for 36 hours with my first. I definitely recommend hypnobirthing to anyone who is interested in natural child birth. My hypnobirthing experience was beautiful."

"Upon hearing the unexpected news that I would be unable to receive an epidural at the induction of my third child I found myself in a precarious position. My water had already been broken and the pitocin started. There was no going back. I panicked for a few minutes and then I called Melissa to beg for help. She came to my rescue and guided me through the entire labor and delivery. She gave me a crash course in hypnobirthing and the techniques she taught me were so effective. I still felt the pain, but amazingly it was bearable. I concentrated on her words and her voice and focused my thoughts on allowing the natural process to happen instead of tensing up and fighting it. Certainly, not being the poster child for natural childbirth, I found myself pleasantly surprised at my ability to handle it all. I knew then that if I have another child and I actually devoted some time and effort to practicing, the next delivery would be even better. Overall, the birth experience was a positive one. I have Melissa and hypnobirthing to thank for taking a day that could have been a disaster and turning it into one of the best of my life!"

"I definitely felt a HUGE difference between this birth and [my first]. It was not pain free exactly, but what I felt didn't really seem like pain either. It seemed to feel useful, if that makes sense. I sort of welcomed how I felt. It made me feel strong, powerful, and truly grateful for the experience.
The labor was just over 3 hours again, but only the last 30 or so minutes were intense. I kept wondering if this was really labor, up until my water released. [My husband] was an amazing birth companion. We did not really use the birth scripts, but he just seemed to know what and how to say everything to help me relax. He was extremely loving and supportive and the experience has definitely brought us closer. I feel more love for him now than I ever thought I could. (I remember wanting to strangle him at [the first] birth and thinking how could he put me through such pain.) We used the Steven Halpern Ocean Suite cd as background music and it was really relaxing. I am so grateful for the HypnoBirthing classes. They really made this a wonderful experience for me."

"I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did for us. It was a total miracle in every way. The total labor time (from first contraction to his birth) was less than TWO hours!! My midwife and her assistant didn't even get there in time. [Our Doula] walked in the door five minutes before he was born- soon enough to receive him and remove the cord from his neck. He was born in his bag of waters. He is healthy and I feel better after 3 days than I did after 3 months with [my first non HB birth]!!! He is nursing very well and we could not be happier and could not have asked for more. Thank you again!"

"I have got to call you and tell you my birth story, it was too cool. It was not the "perfect hypnobirth" I had envisioned, but it was the perfect birth for me. The HypnoBirthing played a huge role, however, and made my birth so smooth that, as my mother said, "I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes." She was a labor and delivery nurse for years :) Our son is such a good baby, so much better than I could have wished for. He has the most calm demeanor, breastfeeds wonderfully and has placed himself on a schedule of feeding every 3 (approximate) hours from day one!"

"Labor lasted just under 12 hours and the home birth went well. I used the HypnoBirthing techniques through most of labor, and they worked great. Our midwife couldn't believe how quickly it went and how well I was able to manage the surges. Thanks again for everything."

"Hypnobirthing went quite well and is certainly the way to go. I would describe it asthe perfect pain management tool for natural birth."
